in reply to Teresa’s question about this previous post…
Its hard to say. What are you looking for in a book?
The single best book, IMO, for including kids with a significant disability like Angelman Syndrome would be Including Students with Severe and Multiple Disabilities in Typical Classrooms (June Downing).
I like for COACH- Choosing Outcomes and Accomodations for Children (Micheal Giangreco, Chigee Cloninger, Virginia Salce Iverson) because it focuses on the end result/ long term goals. There are worksheets. key questions, and the like to work through the process.
If you’re looking just for ideas of how to access and ways to modify, the Quick Guides and TeacherGuides would be recommendation.
And as much as I like the books, I’ve been to several workshops on “how to do accomodations/ modifications/ adaptations”, and seeing it in real life and thinking through the process (what am I trying to teach with this specific assignment? what prior knowledge/skills does the student have that I can build on? what is the right level of challenge and what variables should I switch up on this task?)
