  • Hi Emilie,

Thank you so much for sharing such useful information about modifying and adapting curriculum. Noah just started kindergarten in a gen ed classroom fully included and although they have put up a visual schedule, and adapted the calendar, I feel that there’s so much more to do for Noah to be a full participant during circle time, work time, and so on. My initial thought is that Inclusion is great but in order to make it work, you really need to have the supports (i.e. modifications/adaptations) to make it successful. And, then of course, whose shouders does it fall on to modify the lessons on a daily basis? is it the aide, the special ed teacher? And, that assumes that the gen ed teacher is organized enuf to give the lesson plans in advance. Anyway, I’m rambling. But, this certainly will be instructive to share w/ Noah’s team.

    Thanks again,

    Alyson

P.S. Maddie is such an inspiring kid and it’s amazing to see how well she is doing with school. Keep up the good work!
