Raina King

Karen was part of the big AS list and we chatted for many weekly meetings through the MSN AS group a few years back.  We sort of lost touch when Karen moved a few years back.  I think she remarried at this time too.

Karen’s daughter Raina died this past week, a very sad accident that could happen to any of us with a moment’s lapse in supervision.  If you follow this link it will take you to the newspaper article about Raina.

I’m so sorry for her mother and sister (and the rest of the family too).  That’s one thing I will always remember, how much Karen talked about Samantha and Raina’s love for each other.

I can’t imagine what Karen is going through.  It only took just a moment.  How many times have I lost track of Maddie for “just for a moment”?  But for the grace of G_d go I.

  • Great Light, Mover of all that is moving and at rest, be my Journey and my far Destination, be my Want and my Fulfilling, be my Sowing and my Reaping, be my glad Song and my stark Silence. Be my Sword and my strong Shield,be my Lantern and my dark Night, be my everlasting Strength and my piteous Weakness. Be my Greeting and my parting Prayer, be my bright Vision and my Blindness, be my Joy and my sharp Grief, be my sad Death and my sure Resurrection.

  • I don’t know why I did this, but I just got on the computer and just typed Raina’s name in. And I saw that you wrote this. Thank you so much for remembering!! And thank you for writing this. You really touched my heart. You can email me anytime and maybe we can chat on msn again. Thank you,

    Karen ( Raina’s mom)

Well, I’m kinda doing the same thing my mom said she was doing, accept i typed in my mom’s name into google, and this popped up.
I’m not sure what to really say about all the “blogs, bullitins, and comments” about my sister, i just wish people would leave it alone. Everything I do on the computer, my sister somehow pops up on the page. -I miss my sister a lot, I just wish people would stop putting these personal things on the internet. -It should be left up to the family.

and im not trying to be rude,
i just got really upset when i seen this.

    -Samantha Ailes, 16.

  • Samantha,

Lots of people were touched by Raina and your Mom. For those of us who weren’t physically close to her (I only knew your family “online”) it sort of goes that online is our only way to say “Karen, we care about you and are so sorry for your loss.”

Samantha, if you want me to take this down I will. I gathered from your Mom’s reply (shown just above yours) that she felt this blog post was appropriate.
